Museum Survival Kit - Project Update

July 27, 2020

Early on during the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw this project as an opportunity to offer inspiring examples of resilience in our communities while raising awareness for our museums and historic sites.  We wanted to showcase the cultural knowledge and practical skills that have helped our communities survive in tough times.

The events over the past nine weeks have changed the tone not only of our country, but also of our field. The dual pandemics of COVID-19 and racism, the tremendous loss of museum jobs, and the continuing legacies of colonialism and racism in the museum field require us to take different action right now.

We thank you for your participation, and will continue to keep this site running. We will, however, not be rescheduling Museum Survival Week at this time. Please continue to post your submissions on social media, and we’ll be glad to include them here on the site.
#MuseumSurvivalKit is a collaborative social media project designed to share tips, tricks, and tools rooted in the traditional skills and life ways found in our museums and cultural organizations.
